A new centre of competence for wood energy and biomass is being created in Klagenfurt that will be opened with the “Wood Energy Expo & Congress” from September 3rd to 4th 2009. The conference and trade show will be open to visitors from the trade, to professional users from industry, trade, forestry and communities. The event is targeted at trade visitors from Central and South-Eastern Europe.
Even in times of economic stagnation, experts are expecting unrestricted growth in the field of renewable energy. In Austria, regenerative energy carriers account for 25 % of the total energy volume. Leading eco-energy associations are of the opinion that it will be possible to raise the share of renewable energy carriers to 34 % by the year 2020. With 59%, biomass is the most dominant of all regenerative energy sources – and it is also the energy carrier that is expected to enjoy the highest growth rates. This enormous potential is going to ensure positive market development over the next few years and even decades.
