In Finland, roundwood prices started to slide as of November 2014. After reaching a peak in August, both sawlog and pulpwood assortments have gradually become cheaper. The only exception can be noticed in birch price evolution, which has shown a reversed trend since August, moving upwards.

On a yearly basis, almost all roundwood prices in November are lower. Birch however is slightly more expensive. On average, sawlog prices have decreased by 1 percent. For pulpwood, the decline is more pronounced (-4%).

Throughout the year, timber sales in Finland have been steady, but started to slow down in the autumn compared to last year. Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) member companies purchased in January-October from private forests 26.8 million cubic meters of wood, which was two per cent lower than the previous year.
