WoodMac China 2011
Following the uncertainty created by the world financial crisis in 2008/2009 it is pleasing to report that the Chinese market for woodworking technology is back to strong growth ”, commented Mr. Ma Quinsheng, Vice President and Secretary General, China National Forestry Machinery Association (CNFMA) and joint organiser of WoodMac China 2011. Mr. Ma added “our members are reporting a significant increase in sales to the domestic and international markets for the first 5 months of 2010 and orders to the end of this year are very positive”. The 11th Edition of WoodMac China organised by CNFMA, Deutsche Messe AG and China International Exhibitions Ltd, is scheduled to take place from 1-4 March 2011 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
The organisers of WoodMac China report that demand for space at the next edition in 2011 is already in excess of levels last experienced before the slump of world economies in 2008. Currently, 13% more space has been reserved for the show than was occupied at the last edition in 2009. Taking the show to a record 34,500 square metres gross (sqm). “The private sector woodworking guilds from Beijing, Qingdao and Shanghai plus independent company reservations from South China have all booked large areas at WoodMac China 2011” said Gladys Lui, Project Manager for the show. The Qingdao Guild have moved quickly and blocked 4,500 sqm net for their members. Occupying nearly all of one hall. While just 6 of the largest companies from the Shanghai Guild have reserved space totaling more than 2,000 sqm net. Shanghai Yuetong alone has reserved 600 sqm and will display a multiple machining center for door manufacture, CNC table sliding saws, and edge bander and CNC routers.
“ What is most interesting are the number and wide variety of technologies that are to be shown at WoodMac next year,” added Ms Lui. Companies booking space so far will show a greater range of technology than ever before, including primary log processing; panel board technology; flooring and furniture manufacturing and assembly machinery; window, door and stair case technology. Of particular note, are the numbers joining the wood panel technology section including prominent names as Shanghai Wood Panel Machinery Co (SWPM) together with Dieffenbacher, Germany; IMAL and PAL from Italy; and China Foma. Cutting tools is a new dedicated area of the show next year and this has attracted significant bookings from both international and Chinese companies.
Once again WoodMac China 2011 will receive exclusive support of EUMABOIS the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers. Making this show the only exhibition in China during 2011 to have a German Pavilion of leading wood technology companies organised by the German Woodworking Association VDMA. Terms for joining the German pavilion have recently been announced and interested companies are recommended to reserve space early. The show will also have an Italian Pavilion organised by the Italian woodworking Association ACIMALL including top brands such as, Italpresse showing hot and cold presses, cabinet assembling clamps, membrane embossing and molding presses, glue applicators. The Spanish pavilion organised by AFEMMA, will see the return of long time supporter Barberan S.A. showing profile wrapping machines, board laminators, coating and printing lines. While a pavilion from Finland will be coordinated by TIF, Finland and independent company reservations are being made from the other nine country member associations of EUMABOIS.
