Polish flooring manufacturer Barlinek invested nearly PLN 30 million (8.4 million euros) to set up an environmental fuel line of pellets. The new plant will increase the production capacity of Barlinek up to approx. 85,000 tpy.
The pellet plant to be opened will be the third plant of that type at Barlinek. The previous one was launched in August 2006. The technological equipment of the newest plant allows for processing all production waste, including dust produced at floor manufacturing lines and sawmills of Barlinek.
Fuel properties of the Barlinek pellets include calorific value of approx. 19,000 kJ per 1 kg (approx. 4,500 kcal). Materials used for production are softwood sawdust (70%) and hardwood sawdust (30%).
The decision to construct the new pellets plant is part of the environmental strategy of Barlinek S.A. A similar wood pellet production facility was set up in the latest Barlinek plant located at Winnica, Ukraine, while another plant is being planned in Russia.
